A Glimpse into how God Called Me
Growing up, I often experienced people treating prayer as an afterthought - something done as a last option, rather than an ongoing conversation with an active and present God. I felt a gap between head knowledge and a vibrant relationship with God. I would attend retreats or conferences that produced moments of nearness to God but those moments would be separated by long, spiritually dry seasons. That dryness led to sadness, questioning, and spiritual weariness. This happened not just in my own walk but many pastors and leaders have shared something similar with me. We long for something deeper in our relationship with God and, for those who lead, to help others find that fulfillment.
One night, early in my missionary years in Brazil, everything changed. That evening, hours of ministry had left me tired when God prompted me to prayed for a young girl with a broken foot … and God completely heal her. In that moment, I realized God wasn't asking me to make something happen; he was inviting me to join how he was at work in the world. His invitation was for everyone and this kind of encounter isn't reserved for a limited few, rather it is accessible to everyone as we become aware of God's presence in the moment.
The Asbury Revival sharpened my focus and call. During the Revival, I trained hundreds of people in prayer ministry. Now, my heart is to help others overcome frustrations and low expectations in prayer to move towards a more vibrant relationship with Christ where we experience his presence regularly, recognize his voice clearly, and partner with Him to bring hope and healing to our world.
