A Prayer Model Creates Positive Expectations

A prayer model creates space for the practice of healthy expectations between those ministering in prayer and those receiving prayer. These expectations create a sense of trust that is present in the ministry moment because people behave themselves well and demonstrate compassion towards those receiving prayer.

Whether at church or an event, a prayer model allows the prayer ministry to establish an ethos of practice and behavior that communicates the care and safety of each person receiving prayer. The model helps create a safe environment that nurtures trust in those who are on the prayer team.

A model helps confer trust onto the prayer ministers by making sure that they have been trained in a prayer model. There is the expectation of proper behavior on the part of the those who do prayer ministry because the model communicates those values.

The prayer minister learns to treat the person coming to receive prayer well. Kindness, gentleness, and compassion are responsibilities that are communicated by word and action. The prayer minister acts out of a humility that ensures the person who comes for prayer is well served. The prayer model can help people to communicate attentiveness, confidentiality, and appropriate social interaction. Confidentiality means that the person receiving prayer is honored by allowing them to tell their story or communicating their story when given permission. Even then the testimony should be shared in a way that conveys honor to the person.

These expectations help put people at ease, increase their faith in the Lord by allowing them to pay attention to what the Spirit is doing in them. A healthy environment where people can experience what God has for them without distraction can become a regular experience in prayer ministry. Finally, one of the main goals is that the prayer minister helps the person receiving prayer connect to the Holy Spirit by removing any barriers and allowing them to be open to what the Spirit is doing. Positive expectations is one good way to achieve these goals and join with how the Lord is at work in others.
